The Resurrection

Hi Gang,

Alba wanted to share a video with all of us. Ron DiCianni is a well known painter. You’ll probably recognize his painting, Spiritual Warfare. This video is about his mural depicting the Resurrection of Christ. CLICK HERE to view it. Thanks, Alba!

Easter 2011

I'm sure you feel as I do that this weekend was absolutely amazing.  For me the joy that we experienced in the presence of God was sweeter and more passionate that any we have had before.  It was truly a CELEBRATION of the Resurrection.

Wasn't the last service crazy?  After four services in twenty hours, we were tired.  We prayed before we entered the platform to lead the fifth service, confessing our weakness and asking God to give us energy and work through us.  Did you notice what he did?  We had more energy than we had in any of the previous services.  It was a Spirit of God energy!  Wow.  There's a reminder for what we face in the coming week ... In our weakness, He is made strong.  We saw it today.  We can live it this week.

It is wonderful being a part of what God is doing at Brookwood.  Thank you for your passionate and selfless service.

I'll see you Wednesday.

Joe

What God Has Done

It seems like just yesterday when we started recording our choir vocals.  Actually it was Spring 2010 if I remember correctly.  I was stunned when I looked at the list this week of all the songs we have recorded.  It is amazing what God has lead us to do.

Take a look at this list, then take a moment to feel happy about what God is doing through us ...  "IT'S ALL ABOUT HIM"

ORIGINAL SONGS:

CROWN HIM
A LIGHT HAS DAWNED

ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THE WEEKEND

CALL TIME:  Saturday 2:00 Pod I. For those who were unable to be with us Wednesday, 1:45 Pod I.

PARKING:  North side of church as far away as you can walk.

WHAT TO WEAR:   All black.  What you wore Wednesday great. Everyone looked nice to beautiful.  The guys were nice – the girls were beautiful.

CLAPPING:  I love it when you clap with the music.  Remember to do claps that don’t make any noise.  The microphones really magnify that sound.

HOW TO STAND:  Remember to keep your arms by your side - especially the front row.

FOOD:  Bring what you can.  We’ll be hungry both Saturday and Sunday.

ATTENDENCE:  We NEED you at all 5 services!!

WHAT TO DO WHEN WE ARE NOT SINGING:  We need to stay in the Green Room, the dressing room, the Green Room hallway, or just outside the Green Room hallway while Perry is preaching.  We need to be ready for the quick re-entry at the end of the service.  Remember, with the stage door open, we MUST be quiet!!! Especially during the sermon.

BETWEEN NOW AND THEN:  Pray and practice.

I AM SO EXCITED.  THIS IS GOING TO BE AN AWESOME WEEKEND.  CELEBRATE THE RESURRECTION!

Note from Kristin Dawsey

Here's a note that Kristin Dawsey sent out.  We are not singing this Sunday, but as a worship leader in our church, it would be good for you to have a "heads up" about the beginning of the service.

This coming Sunday's Worship Service and Message will be exceptional, as always :-). Please note that we will be closing the hallway doors at the countdown, as usual. The tunnel doors will be closing with one (1) minute left in the countdown and will not be opened until the chorus of the first song begins. There is a special video and presentation on stage that requires complete darkness. For the safety (not fumbling for a seat in the dark) of persons coming to the Worship Service late, we will be closing the tunnel doors and asking persons who are late to remain in the concourse until the chorus of the first song begins.

Our Facilities and Safety Teams will be assisting the Greeters and Ushers at the Tunnel Doors with this endeavor.

If you are not scheduled to serve this week, this is a heads up so you can ensure you are in the auditorium before the music begins to be able to fully experience this very powerful beggining to our service. Tell all those you know who might not always make it on time...they won't want to miss it!

Love in Christ,

Kristin Dawsey

Our Prayers/Our Praises - Week of 4/13/11

Jim V (tenor): God has given me a seemingly great job opportunity that is in Spartanburg and because of my vehicle I am hesitant about the travel. Please pray for me to be able to discern what God’s plan is.

Jessica B (soprano): my best friend’s husband refuses to take his medication regularly – he keeps having episodes throwing the family in panic. They have a 2 year old and 10 month old and I fear for them when he doesn’t stay on his meds. My friend just asks for prayers for them and that she would do what’s best for all of them.

Kristin H (alto): please pray for my daughter, Ashley. She has been very sick with a kidney infection. Her fever is beginning to go down but she is still in a lot of pain.

For a confidential prayer request.

Two New Trax

Please, check out the two new trax that I posted this morning.  Crown Him is simply a new version of the Adam Fisher song that we've done before.  The band just rocks out more on this one.  The choir parts, which are not on this recording, will be the same as we've always done before.  I want you to have this trax so you can know what its going to sound like on Easter.

Our Victory is the new song by Steve Smith, Adam Fisher, and Don Chapman, that we introduced last night.  We'll sing the last chorus as we enter the platform in the Easter services.  Just learn the melody that you hear Steve singing on the recording.  Don't learn the choir parts ... just the melody.

Enjoy!  Our Brookwood song writers are producing some great songs.  It's fun to be a part of what God is doing.

I've just posted the mp3 files that you have on the CD that we've passed out at rehearsal.  You can download them in you need the mp3s.

I've also posted the lyric charts for "Hallelujah What A Savior" (the prior one had the wrong lyrics) and for "Risen King".

See you at rehearsal tomorrow!

Update: Nancy M's Husband, Tom

"Just wanted to let everyone know Tom came home from the hospital yesterday (4/8) and is doing great. He has a good appetite and slept last night like he hadn't slept in 10 days! You'd never know he's been through this to look at and talk to him - just is moving around a little slower.
We are trying to keep a low profile this weekend to ensure good rest but so appreciate your love, concern and most of all your prayers. Please continue to pray for a smooth and speedy recovery! Thank you! ~Nancy"

Our Prayers/Our Praise - Week of 4.6.11

An excerpt from something I found on Cyberhymnal.org about Hallelujah! What a Savior

Words & Music: Philip P. Bliss, in International Lessons Monthly, 1875.
...A few weeks before his death Mr. Bliss visited the State prison at Jackson, Michigan, where, after a very touching address on “The Man of Sorrows,” he sang this hymn with great effect. Many of the prisoners dated their conversion from that day.
...It is said that the word “Hallelujah” is the same in all languages. It seems as though God had prepared it for the great jubilee of heaven, when all his children shall have been gathered home to sing “Hallelujah to the Lamb!”
Sankey, pp. 146-7

We lift the following prayers in the name of our Great Savior:

Kristin H (alto): Please pray for peace and God’s will to be done in my daughter, Ashley’s, life.
Debbie L (soprano): Pray for my friend, Angie, whose blood levels were showing high for cancer... that her next blood test comes back normal. And please pray for me that my blood level for cardiac test comes back OK.
For a confidential request.
Kristin S (soprano): I had to put my dog down last week. He was 9 years old. It was sudden and I had no time to process the news and come to accept it. I’m truly heartbroken. Please pray for God’s peace and comfort. I miss my ‘little boy’. I wish I could be with our choir family every night. I built up a lot of strength tonight just being here. Thank you and God bless you all.

It has been on my heart to pray for the salvation of our loved ones during this Easter season. I know all of us have a child or a spouse or other family members or friends who desperately need to know the LORD. I was so encouraged when a couple of you recently shared with me that you have children who have put their faith in Christ. Let’s join together in prayer that God will grant the changing of many more hearts and lives. To Him be all the glory! Salvation is here!
I love you guys. -- Sharyn

Update on Nancy's husband, Tom.

Hi Friends,
[Nancy and her husband,Tom]thank you so much for your prayers as Tom did very well for his surgery! They took him in at 8:00 this morning and Nancy was able to go back to see him around 2:45. They just felt your prayers in so many ways and are so thankful all went well! Please continue to pray for a full and speedy recovery and that Tom will listen to his nurses and Dr.s and not over do! :)

Thanks again! You are all the BEST!
Dana C

Update: Nancy M's Husband

Please continue to pray for Nancy M's husband, Tom. The results from his heart cath showed significant blockage. He is having bypass surgery this morning (April 4) at Greenville Memorial. Nancy says they have already seen God's hand in this from His prompting Tom to call the doctor to last Tuesday's daily devotional from "Jesus Calling" which said "Trust me will all your heart!" We stand with them in their confidence that God will see them through this. Nancy urged us to please continue to pray for Tom and to not ignore the warning signs for heart disease which aren't always obvious!
