Volunteer Thru The Summer

Just a reminder that Kristen Dawsey stopped by rehearsal last week to let us know that she's looking for volunteers to help out in several ministries through the summer.  If you'd like to help out once or twice, or even every week, you can email Krisen at Kristin.Dawsey@brookwoodchurch.org.  She will love hearing from you.

This Is Giving Me Some Great Ideas

Our Prayers/Our Praises - Week of 5-25-11

Michael D (tenor): House in Denver is on the market. Please pray for a quick sale!

Nathan M (bass): Discernment concerning a job opportunity for myself and prayer for a neighbor who lost his job yesterday.

Debbie L (soprano): Please pray that my husband’s ear surgery will go well tomorrow (5/26), that it will heal completely and that he can hear God’s beauty in our praise.

Kristin S (soprano): So much to say… just please pray regarding finances, depression, having trouble letting go and letting God take over, everything.

LORD, we praise You and thank You for hearing our prayers and caring so deeply about everything that concerns us. We love You!

Never worry about anything. But in every situation let God know what you need in prayers and requests while giving thanks. Philippians 4:6 GOD'S WORD® Translation

Glorified

The song that is cycling through my head today is Glorified.  I love what that song is about.

As I was reflecting this morning on last night's rehearsal, I was amazed at how quickly you learned the song.  It was the first time that we had worked on it, and we had no charts to work with.  In 30 minutes you had learned the song and learned the three part harmony; and by the end of the rehearsal, when I looked around the room, most of you weren't even using the lyrics.  You were just standing there singing from your heart, "Jesus be glorified in me."  It was awesome to see.  What a fabulous group of musicians and worshipers you have become!

Thanks to Melinda, Carolyn, Jonathan, and Michael for teaching us the parts.

I hope you have a blessed holiday weekend ...

Sunday Notes

Thanks for serving yesterday.  The praise was glorious and being together was fabulous.  You are awesome worship leaders.  I'm thankful for the honor of serving with you.

This week we need to put the polish on All My Fountians so we can record it next week.  It's kind of amazing how quickly things are moving now, isn't it?  What a ride!

Pod I

Just a note:  In the event the rapture actually happens on Saturday, we will not meet in Pod I on Sunday morning.  Let's go ahead and meet just inside the Pearly Gates at the regular time and get ready to worship!

Our Prayers/Our Praise - Week of 5.18.11

Kristin S (soprano): my sister is getting married this weekend so this a praise and a prayer request. Praise God that He has brought her out of the mess she was in and now she has finished school, started a career and it getting married! Pray that God will continue to bless her and her marriage.

Kathy C (soprano): please pray for me… I need my voice!

LORD, we pray for your help this Sunday. We can’t accomplish anything without You. Be enthroned and glorified in our praises!

New Guide Vocal Track

I've posted a guide vocal track for All My Fountains here on this page.  This should help you learn your part.  It's a great song!

Remember we won't try to clap and sing at the same time, except on verse one where the claps are in a straight 4 pattern.

I hope you know this well when you come to rehearsal next week.

Just Amazing

Jeff's Fine Arts Center Graduation was last night, so I had to split early. I'm sorry that I could be around at the end of rehearsal to tell you how wonderfully you did last night.  But you were ... wonderful.

Do you realize that we recorded Stay Amazed in approximately 30 minutes?  Isn't that amazing?  I remember times in the past when we would spend an hour and a half on one song, and record until 8:30 PM.  I heard you were finished around 7:30!  Amazing ...

Thank you for the effort that you have put into becoming better and more effective musicians.  The work that God is doing in us is pretty wonderful.  I wonder what else he has in store?  Hmmm ...  I want to be around when we get where he's leading us!

Rehearsal Tonight

We'll spend time this week in rehearsal on these three main objectives:
(a) Recording choir vocals for Stay Amazed and Here for You.  Please, be sure to bring your ear buds and FM radios.
(b) Refreshing our memory on God Is With Us Now, Open My Eyes, and Our God.
(c) Working on the clapping and parts for All My Fountians - we are going to do a couple of things that will make this "do-able" for all of us.

Rhythm

If you are a music reader, and think it would help you to see the rhythm that we are clapping in All My Fountains, here it is.  The top line of the image above shows the actual rhythm we are clapping.  The bottom line is just for reference and shows you where the beats are in the measure.

All My Fountains

I FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT.  I believe I have come up with a way to help all us learn how to sing and clap at the same time on All My Fountains.

I can't wait until rehearsal next week.  I'll show you how to approach it, and I'm confident that we can all learn to do it.  We'll each have to practice on our own; but we will get it.

It is going to be SO much fun praising with our congregation on this song!

Prayer Request - Week of 5.11.11

Pam F(soprano): Tomorrow we will have the funeral service for my baby grandson who was born prematurely on Friday and only lived for 4 hours. Pray for peace for his mom and the rest of our family. We also have some unsaved relatives who might be at the funeral so pray that their hearts will be touched. Thank you.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18

We love you, Pam, and will be praying for you and your family.

Prayer Request for Fran's Grandson, Trevor

Our sweet sister, Fran F (soprano) is asking us to join her in praying for her grandson, Trevor, who lives in NC. He is 12 years old. On Mothers Day he was badly injured while playing. He is on pain medication, but should be okay. He has many stitches in both arms and needs weeks of healing time.

Requests for Prayer

Bob N: Bob is going through what feels like some spiritual warfare at work. He would like for us to intercede in prayer for him asking for protection and to be lifted up and have greater trust in the Lord through a difficult time (especially this week).

Kandy K (soprano): asked us to pray for Maretta and her husband, Greg (both in our choir family). They are dealing with elderly parents (3) and Maretta’s mother fell twice last week. Greg has been out of town and Maretta is dealing with issues on a daily basis.

Sharyn G (alto): please pray for me this week too... for God's guidance, wisdom and a big, big helping of His peace and joy.

LORD, may our trials and triumphs all bring You honor. Help us to be confident in you.

Prayers for Wayne

Wayne Kaye is in the hospital in Laurens with some heart issues.  He's been having trouble with passing out at random moments.  The doctors think it may have something to do with his pacemaker.  Wayne, as you know, is a high energy guy, and slowing down for this is a bit bothersome.  It's the start of tennis season, you know!  Let's keep him in our prayers.

Our Prayers/Our Praises Week of 5.4.11

Tammy L (soprano): Please pray that the pain associated with my “shingles” will continue to lessen. Thanks!

Kristin S (soprano): Please pray for a friend at work (Tim) and his family. His father has cancer and is starting an aggressive round of chemo today (May 4). Tim’s Dad knows the Lord and needs our prayers of strength & healing.

Praise God for how He has blessed our music ministry.

God is so good!

On January 28, 2009 Joe posted the following picture
on the choir blog with the title “The Future”

Here is a screencap of what we looked like on April 24, 2011

I’d say we’re well on our way. Praise God for giving Joe a big vision and for sending us such amazingly talented and God honoring people like Steve, Don, Adam and DJ. To God be all the glory!

Blessings!

Praise Report

Let's give God PRAISE for this great report from our sister Nancy M (soprano).

Tom had a post-op appointment with his surgeon Tuesday and his doctor was extremely pleased with how well Tom is doing. We also went to The Life Center (the place where Tom and I first met 19 years ago), to get oriented for Heart Rehab. That begins next week with 3 times per week sessions and also the opportunity to go to educational classes in diet, stress management, etc. We're actually looking forward to this as we see how it can be beneficial for our whole family!

We love you, Nancy, and we're so glad to know that Tom is doing well.

Blessings!
